'20/20: Tragic Beauty Anna Nicole Smith': Release date, plot and all about ABC special with late model's teen daughter
It has been 13 years since the tragic death of iconic actress and model Anna Nicole Smith. On February 8, 2007, the popular actress was found dead in her hotel room in Florida as a result of an overdose of prescription drugs. She was only 39 years old at the time of her tragic death.
At that time, Smith's daughter Dannielynn Birkhead was barely a 5-months-old infant, who hardly got the chance to grow up in the love and care of her mother. Now, Dannielynn is all of 14 years and a spitting image of her late mother. In the new episode of ABC primetime special '20/20', we will get to see Dannielynn take a journey to her mother's hometown and other locations in Los Angeles enriched with her memory - and rediscovering the life of the 'Tragic Beauty'.

The anniversary special '20/20: Tragic Beauty Anna Nicole Smith' is all set to air on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 9/8C (9 to 11 PM ET).
Plot
The special features Dannielynn Birkhead embark on the nostalgic journey with her father Larry Birkhead, a former boyfriend of Anna Nicole Smith. The father-daughter duo travel to Mexia, Texas where Smith had grown up, and meet with her high school friend. They also discover the places frequented by Smith before she became famous in Hollywood.
In Los Angeles, for the first time ever in her life, Dannielynn comes across her mother's memorabilia kept in a storage locker. In the emotional journey, the teenager also visits various locations sentimentally attached with Smith. The special also comprises in-depth reporting by senior ABC news correspondent Deborah Roberts, who unravels secrets about Anna Nicole Smith's private life and unanswered questions about her tragic death.

Dannielynn Birkhead
Born on September 7, 2006, Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead (born Hannah Rose Marshall Stern) is the daughter of Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead. Just three days after her birth in the Bahamas, Smith's elder son Daniel Smith passed away at the mere age of 20 years from a drug overdose.
Dannielynn became the focus of media attention as a newborn after Larry Birkhead filed a paternity suit for her custody when Smith named her the-then spouse Howard K. Stern as the father on her birth certificate.
Following DNA testing, Larry Birkhead was established as her real father, and he gained custody of Dannielynn. In 2008, a year after her mother's death, Dannielynn was declared the sole heir to Smith's $700,000 estate.
