LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Rumor has It' actor, Kevin Costner has caught up in the crossfire of one more conjecture. The series first aired in 2018, and has a star-studded cast of Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, and Gil Birmingham. As we know, 'Yellowstone' is in luck as it was able to grow its franchise after the first series. A prequel series, '1883,' premiered in December 2021, on Paramount+, and focuses on a generation of the Dutton family during the Old West as they undertake the arduous journey across the country before settling the land that would become the 'Yellowstone' Ranch. Another prequel series titled '1923' premiered a year later on December 2022, on Paramount+, and focuses on a new generation of the Dutton Family.

However, rooting back to Costner, his lawyer vehemently denies the report that 'Yellowstone' may end with Season 5 because the actor did not want to film for more than one week on its back half. As per recent reports, a month after the drama’s season 5 midseason finale aired on Paramount Network, news emerged that co-creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan had decided to conclude the show when it returns later this summer.

Kevin Costner's lawyer slams unnamed sources

Marty Singer slammed the previous unnamed sources who claimed the 68-year-old actor wanted to film the Western drama for 50 days for the first part of the season and only a week for the second batch of episodes. “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of Season 5 of ‘Yellowstone’ is an absolute lie,” Singer told Puck News. “It’s ridiculous, and anyone who suggests it shouldn’t be believed for a second. “As anyone who knows anything about Kevin knows, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone above and beyond to ensure its success.”

A Paramount representative also referred to Costner as an integral part of the show’s success when speaking to the outlet. Kevin Costner’s lawyer has strongly denied claims that the actor tried to limit his filming time on Paramount Network’s hit series 'Yellowstone'. “As we previously stated, Kevin has been a key component to the success of our Yellowstone series, and we look forward to seeing him continue going forward,” they said. Earlier this month, following the news that 'Yellowstone could come to an abrupt end at the end of its current season, Deadline reported that Costner had asked Paramount Network executives to allow him to spend just one week filming the second half of the fifth season while he works on his own passion project.

Kevin Costner's to helm a new project

Costner, who recently won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of John Dutton on the show, is now directing and starring in his own multi-part epic western, 'Horizon,' which he co-wrote with Jon Baird. It has been picked up by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinemas.  To account for its grandeur, Costner intends to release it in four separate chunks (each running just short of three hours) before re-editing it for television with a more digestible 42-minute-per-episode structure. It would be a daunting prospect for even the most gifted of filmmakers, but Costner’s stellar track record in the western genre (as both an actor and a director) gives hope that he might just pull it off.
