'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' EARLY REACTIONS: Critics praise Amazon series, say it's a 'spectacular sight to behold'
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated shows of the year and fans just cannot wait for the series to arrive on Amazon Prime Video. There have been a lot of negative comments on social media for the series and they come from a certain section of society that believes the series doesn’t stay true to the lore of JRR Tolkien. However, the social media embargo for reviews has finally been lifted and critics are sharing their thoughts on the series, calling it a "cinematic achievement."
Set thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’, the ‘Rings of Power’ primarily focuses on the second age of Middle-Earth that was relatively peaceful and saw the rise of Sauron. The second age was prominent as it saw the forging of the Rings of Power and the last alliance between elves and men.

Steven Weintraub, the editor-in-chief of Collider, noted that viewers would be "blown away" by the scale of the series and praised the cinematography of the Amazon series. He wrote, "Have seen the first 2 episodes of the @primevideo’s #LordOfTheRings series. Prepare to be blown away by the scale and scope of #TheRingsOfPower I don’t know how they managed to pull this off, but they made a ‘Lord of the Rings’ show that feels like ‘Lord of the Rings.’ Everything about this series is incredible. From the cinematography to the costumes to the movie-quality sets. And, of course, the cast. Get ready for something special. I cannot wait to see more."

Brandon Katz of The Wrap was also impressed by the first two episodes and labeled them a "spectacular sight to behold." He wrote, "Okay so the first two episodes of #TheRingsOfPower are a spectacular sight to behold. The scale, scope, ambition and grandiosity are unrivaled on TV. It also has the laborious task of introducing SO much necessary world building that it takes a bit to set flight."

Tamara Fuentes, the associate entertainment editor of Cosmopolitan, loved the first two episodes of ‘The Rings Of Power’ and called them "gorgeous." She wrote, "Got to see the first two episodes of #LordOfTheRings #TheRingsOfPower and it’s absolutely GORGEOUS. That being said, I’ve never seen a single LOTR movie so I am completely lost, which is kind of upsetting considering it’s a prequel. However, I’m still excited to keep watching."
