Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy is undoubtedly one of the best movie franchises in cinema history and won numerous accolades. Amazon is set to take viewers back to the Middle-Earth with its epic upcoming series ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ and the streaming platform is leaving no stone unturned to make this series a gigantic hit. A lot of people are now re-visiting Jackson’s Middle-Earth saga to prepare themselves for the upcoming series and looks like they are seeing a major rise in streams on Amazon Prime Video.

When it comes to ‘The Hobbit’, the first movie in the franchise, titled ‘An Unexpected Journey’, is at #5 and ‘The Desolation of the Smaug’ rounded off the Top 10. The only film not included in the Top 10 list is ‘The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies’.

The anticipation of ‘The Rings of Power’ has made everyone curious about Middle-Earth again and it doesn’t come as a shock that people are watching the aforementioned movies in large numbers so that they can be in touch with everything that has happened so far. Although ‘The Rings of Power’ talks about the Second Age of the Middle Earth, there might be a lot of characters that we have already seen in earlier movies.

We might see all six movies making it to the Top 10 list as the release date comes closer.
Jackson’s ‘LOTR’ trilogy began in 2001 with ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ and ended in 2003 with ‘The Return of the King’. Meanwhile, in 2002, the second part ‘The Two Towers’ made its way to the theatres. The trilogy was nominated for 30 Academy Awards and went on to win 17, with ‘The Return of the King’ winning all the 11 accolades that it was nominated for. On the other hand, all three films accumulated $2.991 billion at the global box office.

When it comes to ‘The Hobbit’ franchise, all three movies generally received positive reviews from critics. However, fans were not that happy with too much CGI used in these movies and criticized them a lot. But they were extremely successful at the box office and once again, earned more than $2.938 worldwide.

As far as ‘The Rings of Power’ is concerned, the Amazon series will be premiering exclusively on Prime Video on Thursday, September 1, with two episodes. The show explores Middle Earth’s Second Age, which includes the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the story of the island kingdom of Numenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men.

The series features Morfydd Clark as Galadriel and Maxim Baldry as Isildur. Other actors to feature on the show include Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Miriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Arondir), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Markella Kavenagh (Elanor) and more.
