Who is Mia Morris?

Mia Morris is a rock songwriter, singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. She began playing the drums at age 9 and gained recognition when at 13, when she began posting drum covers on YouTube, which garnered over five million views. As per her website, she has written more than 125 and has released 30 songs. Morris also plays the piano, bass, guitar, ukulele, harmonica, cajon and melodica. In a conversation with Rear View Mirror, Morris explained how her love for music began. " I started playing drums after my neighbor told me he didn’t want his drum set anymore. I’m sure he was skeptical that I would go through with borrowing it until I was knocking on his front door asking for it. We hauled most of a drum kit into the house and the rest is history. I was nine" she said.

Currently residing in Nashville, Morris cites Jack White, Yungblud, CAKE, The Beatles, Fountains Of Wayne and Gwen Stefani as her musical influences. To Morris, Nashville was the ideal place to hone her talent. "That’s right, my family moved from Indianapolis around five years ago, and there are many reasons why Nashville was perfect for us. My family always wanted to go on an adventure whether that was moving to a new state or traveling the country in a trailer," she said. "My mom likes hot weather, and my brother would get to play a longer baseball season in a warmer climate. Nashville was a good fit for those things and it being the, “music city” sure sounded good to me. I am so incredibly thankful for the support my family has given me and my musical pursuit and I understand how lucky I am to be doing it in a world-class music town like Nashville. " she added.
