Before her performance, North Dakota's Chloe Fredericks spoke about how her song was about a relationship that didn't work out and that the song was all about moving forward. She was all set to take on the main stage and certainly didn't hold back with her performance and even had Kelly Clarkson declaring that she definitely wanted to cover the song. But even though fans loved the song, the jury wasn't too convinced yet, placing it third and the ranking board.

Fans were shocked and appalled and called out the jury on their ranking, seeing that they weren't having it. "North Carolina over North Dakota is an insane decision by the jury #AmericanSongContest" tweeted a fan.
