‘This is a family show!’ ‘American Idol’ fans slam Katy Perry for wearing ‘revealing’ dress on ABC show

Katy Perry's costume choice has been landing her in trouble with fans over the last few episodes

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of 'American Idol' Season 22 expressed their displeasure with Katy Perry's latest outfit choice, voicing their dissatisfaction on social media.

Many felt that her attire was not appropriate for a family show, deeming it highly inappropriate. They expressed concerns about the outfit making them uncomfortable while watching the show.

Despite the criticism, Katy Perry opted to wear the outfit, seemingly unfazed by the backlash. However, fans persisted in voicing their disapproval, advising her to be more mindful of her dressing style in the future.

On X, one fan wrote, "Katy Perry was disgusting with her b**bs hanging out! I saw Luke looking at them! This is a family show!"  "Katy Perry! Can you dress more like Luke!!! No one wants to see that!!!," added another fan.

"Terrible wardrobe for Katy Perry. She acted like she was afraid to move or she would lose something. But oh how she poses and acts when the camera is on her. She needs to go!!!," wrote another fan. 

One fan said, "Why do Katy's clothes always fall apart? Time to get a new stylist!" "Do not like Katy Perry’s dress !! Ridiculous!," added another. "Can y’all PLEASE Get some clothes on Katy it’s so uncomfortable watching her knowing she cannot stand up, walk or anything with the outfit she has on," noted another fan. 

Katy Perry struggles with wardrobe malfunction 

During the Top 14 reveal episode of 'American Idol,' Katy Perry experienced an embarrassing moment when the top of her outfit broke off. Roman Collins, the final contestant in the danger zone, was performing for the judges' pick when Katy had the wardrobe malfunction.

She was wearing a black two-piece outfit with a large metallic ensemble on the back, but the top broke off during the performance. Host Ryan Seacrest noticed Katy struggling and joked, "Katy, don't cut yourself!"

Katy acknowledged the mishap, saying, "That song... um... broke my top off... I guess it is a woman's world!" Luke Bryan added humor by mentioning ratings, while Katy emphasized that it's a family show and tried to cover up using a pillow from behind the judges' table.

Despite the mishap, the judges continued with the show, with Luke complimenting Roman's performance and Katy making light of the situation with a playful comment.

Who are the top five on 'American Idol' Season 22?

In the latest stage of the competition, the top five contestants are Jack Blocker, Abi Carter, Triston Harper, Will Moseley, and Emmy Russell. Unfortunately, the journey ended for Julia Gagnon as she was eliminated from the competition.

Next week, the Top 5 contestants of the competition will take the stage for Disney night, where they will perform in hopes of securing a coveted spot in the Top 3 finalists and avoiding elimination.

Each contestant will select and perform their favorite songs from the beloved Disney songbook. It's a pivotal moment in the competition, as the remaining contestants endeavor to impress the judges and capture the hearts of viewers with their interpretations of iconic Disney tunes.
