‘American Idol’ Season 22 guest mentor Shania Twain trolled for ‘cheap’ wigs and ‘freaky’ look
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Monday, April 29, 'American Idol' featured country music legend Shania Twain guiding the Top 10 contestants as they performed songs from the years they were born.
Each contestant aimed to secure a spot in the Top 8, with America voting live and judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie offering their feedback. Moreover, past winners Scotty McCreery from 2011 and Just Sam from 2020 graced the stage with performances of their own.
However, during the show, unfortunately, some fans began mocking the iconic singer for her appearance. They trolled her for wearing wigs that they perceived as cheap-looking and made comments about her aged appearance over the years, labeling it as "freaky."

Another fan said, "Shania‘s face is not Shania’s face #AmericanIdol that is not what she looked like years ago at all." "Wow - I haven't seen Shania Twain in a long time. She doesn't even look like the old version. Yuck. I feel sorry for women who's ego is so wrapped up in the way they look that they grasp with surgery and ruin themselves," added another.
One asked, "Shania couldn’t afford a better wig?" Another added, "Upset. Shania Twain... you beautiful woman... did NOT need plastic surgery. It seems like you did."

Shania Twain is excited about Mia Matthew's performance
The show opened with home videos of each contestant as children, with their birth years displayed on the screen. Shania Twain was an exciting mentor, particularly for Mia Matthews, who sang Shania’s song “No One Needs to Know.”
Mia leaned into the country fanbase with this choice, although it wasn’t a vocal showcase. Despite that, the judges gave her a standing ovation, and it made for an enjoyable performance.
