BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Jelly Roll is among the performers set who took the stage during the Season 21 finale of 'American Idol'. As most viewers failed to recognize the country singer, others simply compared him to Post Malone for his face tats.

Jelly Roll is a name to watch in the country music scene these days, but that's not where he started. The 38-year-old Nashville native dabbled with rap and rock before making the switch to Country in 2021. He's been open about growing up in a middle-class neighborhood, suffering from addiction and alcoholism, and spending a dozen years in and out of jail. The singer is now dedicated to giving back to detained youngsters, donating $250,000 in October 2022 to create a recording studio at the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center in Nashville.

Jelly Roll was part of an all-star all-genre cast for the finale episode. TLC, Pitbull, Lauren Daigle, Kylie Minogue, REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin, Jazmine Sullivan, James Blunt, and Ellie Goulding are also on the list.

Jelly Roll took the stage as the season's top two were announced. He performed 'Save Me' with Lainey Wilson. Jelly Roll then sang 'Need A Favor,' accompanied by Oliver Steele, while Luke Bryan sang along in his seat.

'If Luke Combs and Post Malone had a kid'

More than his performance, fans were taken aback by his face tattoo. On Reddit, one person wrote, "Jelly Roll's face tats are so unsettling." Another person wrote, "Anybody else think Jelly Roll looks like if Luke Combs and Post Malone had a kid." One asked, "Is it me or is Jelly Roll terrifying?" Another quipped, "A jelly stuffed Post Malone apparently." Another person chimed in, "Looks like Post Malone ate too much jelly 🍇."

On Twitter, fans were no different. One person tweeted, "Keep this guy in the dark. Even Post Malone thinks this Jelly Roll guy has a stupid name and bad face tats." Another person wrote, "Jelly roll looks like Ben Roethlisberger after about 5 more years of retirement and a few tattoo sessions." One joked, "Meatloaf or jelly roll? Wtf?"
