'Lipsync much?' Viewers slam ABC as Pitbull kicks off 'American Idol' 2023 finale, call singer's performance 'a mess'
BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' fans were set for a big treat on May 21, as the finale episode opens the stage to more than a dozen famous artists. Viewers couldn't help but cringe when Pitbull opened the show with a performance in the finale episode that they thought was a "lip sync" performance.
The top 3 contestants of Season 21 will compete one more time for a chance to win the coveted championship and the big cash prize of $250,000. The finale will feature not only the top three contestants - Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, and Colin Stough - but also numerous well-known artists who will add their share of glitz and glamor as part of the finale broadcast.

Pitbull kicks off 'American Idol' Season 21 finale
From Pitbull to Season 2 alumni Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard, the list of contestants for the finale episode kept fans on the edge of their seats. Ryan Seacrest, the longtime host of the event, kicked off the evening by welcoming viewers to the finale. Pitbull opened the live finale with a powerful performance of his song 'Jumpin' while dressed in all-white. Pitbull then sang 'Give Me Everything' accompanied by the Top 12 singers of the Season 21 of 'American Idol,' while the backup dancers also dressed in all-white.
'His time was up years ago!'
After seeing Pitbull kick off the show, fans took to Twitter to ask, "Lipsync much?" Another compared the performance to "Noise." One viewer asked, "Why is Pitbull on #AmericanIdol? He hasn’t had a hit in like a decade. I see he’s still cliche we f*ck." One wrote, "It could be worse they could force pitbull to sing another one of his old stale same sounding songs! Oh the torture!"

Criticizing his performance, one viewer tweeted, "Pitbull’s obviously lip syncing and the contestants sound like they’re on kidz bop.. kinda a mess!"
