'American Idol’ Hollywood Week: Sam Finelli’s exit got fans saying, ‘Did my boy dirty’

The 28-year-old singer appeared in the pop genre and got mentored by ‘American Idol’ Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks

Autistic singer Sam Finelli had left the Internet teary-eyed when he first landed on the auditions of ‘American Idol’ Season 20. The skilled crooner, who won the golden ticket, even got a standing ovation from the judges but it seems like his luck ran out during Hollywood Week as he failed to impress the trio namely Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
 
The 28-year-old singer, who earlier revealed how he always was a different kid and how his life has been difficult, appeared in the pop genre and got mentored by ‘American Idol’ season six winner Jordin Sparks. The live audience seemed impressed by the singer’s performance on ‘Say Something’ by A Great Big World but the trio had a different take. Despite giving his best shot, the judges felt he was not prepared enough for the next round. Sam Finelli, unfortunately, got eliminated which left the social media users disheartened. Hashtag ‘#robbed’ came into place as the Internet felt the judges did him dirty.

Social media users logged into Twitter to speak on Sam Finelli’s shocking exit from the show. “WTF why not Sam?! his performance was amazing #robbed”, said one user as another posted, “It breaks my heart to say goodbye to @samfinellimusic. He has an amazing talent and is such an inspiration. Please don’t give up, Sam! You are incredible.” One user shared, “You gotta be kidding me, Sam should have gone through.”
 
The next one posted, “I would've thought Sam could've made it!” One individual asserted, “They did my boy Sam dirty! I'm hurt!” and another added, “You gotta be kidding me, Sam should have gone through.”  Meanwhile, one stated, “Sam Finelli wailing out those notes. I like him so much, didn’t think it was the right song choice.” And, another concluded, “Not feeling Sam. Please #AmericanIdol don't advance cause of his backstory.”

‘American Idol' Season 20 airs every Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.
