Cole Hallman may have just given two performances on Season 20 of 'American Idol' but that was more than enough for the 22-year-old to earn a strong fanbase. Ever since Cole gave a soul-stirring performance with his sister Katie during the auditions, fans began rooting for him. Even though the judges loved his vocals, their only feedback to him was to work on his confidence.

Sadly for Cole, despite working hard on his confidence and stage presence, the New Jersey resident still failed to make the cut during the duet round on Hollywood Week. Cole was paired with Cadence Baker, and the duo performed 'How Sweet It Is' by James Taylor. Though both the singers gave their best shot, Cole's vocals didn't impress the judges. Luke Bryan asked him if his voice was 'gone a little bit'. Cole admitted that it was gone a little bit, and the judges revealed that they noticed it. Unfortunately, that didn't work out in his favor, as the judges decided to retain Cadence in the competition and send Cole home.

By turning Cole down, you lost me for the night. IT WAS UNDERWHELMING BECAUSE HIS VOICE WAS HALFWAY GONE!!!! #AmericanIdol." Another fan wrote, "Nooooo! Cole is much better than others who made it thru! Judges mistake #AmericanIdol." "Cole was better than half the people that went through #AmericanIdol," added a fan. Another fan commented on the show's YouTube channel, "They chose those mediocre contestants over the true artist, COLE DESERVE BETTER." "Man what a bummer about Cole I hope he comes back next year," expressed a fan. "This is annoying. Cole has been better than Douglas throughout the whole competition and they let he and his partner go through coz of sentiment. Even his tired voice was still better than those two. This show is becoming more annoying by the second," pointed out a fan. "Cole was my favorite singer in the whole competition. What's new the judges always let the best go," mocked a fan.

'American Idol' Season 20 airs every Sunday and Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
