LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Some 'American Idol' Season 22 fans took to social media to express their disdain for Emmy Russell's presence in the top five of the competition. Despite her making it to this stage, some fans openly hoped for her elimination. Even after she was eventually announced as being eliminated from the show, some fans seemed pleased with her departure.

Voicing their opinions, fans suggested that she should have been eliminated much earlier in the competition. In their comments, some fans went as far as comparing Emmy Russell unfavorably to a previous contestant, Kaibrienne Richins, implying that Russell was a lesser version of Richins. Notably, fans felt that Russell didn't deserve her spot in the top five and criticized her singing abilities in comparison to other contestants.

"Emmy that cannot be your real voice… singing in cursive so hard her heads gonna spin around like the exorcist," a user said. "Emmy has gone home! Finally," said another. "Emmy is gone! Yay!", said one. "If Emmy doesn't go home tonight, I'm not watch the finale...," said another. 

"Emmy is terrible. Why is she still in the contest? Because Katy likes her? Because she has a famous relative? Emmy is NOT good," added one. "Emmy Russell is like a worse version of KaiBrienne except one is at home And Emmy is still here lol," added another.
