LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Some 'American Idol' Season 22 fans took to social media to express their disdain for Emmy Russell's presence in the top five of the competition. Despite her making it to this stage, some fans openly hoped for her elimination. Even after she was eventually announced as being eliminated from the show, some fans seemed pleased with her departure.
Voicing their opinions, fans suggested that she should have been eliminated much earlier in the competition. In their comments, some fans went as far as comparing Emmy Russell unfavorably to a previous contestant, Kaibrienne Richins, implying that Russell was a lesser version of Richins. Notably, fans felt that Russell didn't deserve her spot in the top five and criticized her singing abilities in comparison to other contestants.
