McKenna Faith Breinholt was advanced to top 12 on 'American Idol' Season 22

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of 'American Idol' Season 22 were divided over McKenna Faith Breinholt's advancement to the top 12 as some felt she didn't deserve her spot, especially considering the shocking elimination of Odell Bunton Jr., who had received a platinum ticket early in the competition. They argued that it would have been better if Odell had returned to the show instead of McKenna. Many fans expressed their readiness to swap McKenna for Odell, highlighting their disappointment with the outcome.

McKenna delivered a stunning rendition of Chicago's 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry', earning praise from judges. Despite her impressive performance, many viewers were left unsure about her.

"What if we just switched McKenna for Odell real quick what if we just did a lil switcherooooo," said a user on X. "I like the band Chicago but I didn't like that from McKenna," said another. "This song choice showed me that she does not have strong vocals at all. This wasn’t great I didn’t enjoy any of this. I’m ready for McKenna to go home now," added one. 

"McKenna sounds a bit off tune tonight," added one. "I’m so over McKenna can we all just be done with McKenna now," added another. "THis is not McKenna's night," said one. 

Katy Perry calls McKenna Faith Breinholt a 'rockstar'

The judges were effusive in their praise for McKenna's performance as despite her illness and lack of rehearsal time, she delivered a standout performance that left a lasting impression. Katy Perry commended McKenna, likening her to a rockstar and acknowledging her commanding presence on stage.

Luke Bryan also admired McKenna's elegance and beauty, appreciating her song choice and delivery. Lionel Richie described her performance as "sexy-sounding," highlighting McKenna's ability to captivate the audience with her voice and charisma. 

'American Idol' judges think McKenna Faith Breinholt is ready for the next level

During her last few performances, McKenna has been receiving tonnes of plaudits from the judges, as Katy Perry praised her, saying she's like a star and ready for the big leagues. Luke Bryan noted it was the first time she played guitar on stage and keeps surprising him. Tori Kelly also complimented her tone, calling it pure, warm, and genuine, as Lionel Richie compared her to Joni Mitchell, which is high praise indeed!

Even guest Gene Simmons couldn't stop but praise her 'star' quality. “Oh, my God. I’ve got nothing to say to you because there is such a thing as innate talent. Your voice isn’t your whole instrument, your entire body is. The way you motioned. That’s what a star is," he said.
