'American Idol' Top 24: Tristen Gressett hailed as 'superstar' after his high-energy performance

Tristen Gressett has been pretty consistent with wowing both the judges and 'American Idol' fans since his audition days. While the 17-year-old shares smooth vocals just like most of his fellow competitors on the singing competition show, what sets him apart from the crowd is his showmanship.

Tristen's dance moves and quirky shenanigans on stage always struck a chord with fans. Considering the entertainer he is when Tristen was presented with a live audience for his top 24 performance at Disney's Aulani Resort in Hawaii, let's just say he didn't disappoint. With the help of guest mentor Jimmie Allen, Tristen worked on his song 'With a Little Help from My Friends' by The Beatles/ Joe Cocker. Jimmie was thoroughly impressed with Tristen's vocals and his strong bond with his mother. But fans and the show's judges couldn't get enough of his high-energy performance. From grabbing the mic stand to giving a "superstar pose" Tristen's performance left everybody entertained. After watching his performance, Lionel Richie couldn't help but compare him to Steve Tyler.

The judges couldn't stop singing praises of Tristen's performance. Luke Bryan urged Tristen to never change and encouraged him to always be the entertainer he was born to be, and assured him that he would go very far in the music industry. Katy Perry too agreed with her fellow judges and raved about his "freaky" performance. Fans too couldn't get enough of Tristen. A fan tweeted, "Tristen is a rockstar in the making! Such a great performer. I love Luke’s comparison to Steven Tyler because I was thinking the same thing. He’s been giving me those vibes since the beginning. #AmericanIdol." "Tristen has really been impressing me lately #AmericanIdol," wrote a fan. "Tristen was the best so far.
