'American Horror Story: 1984' Episode 3: Fans think Montana and Brooke will go from 'enemies to lovers' using Richard Ramirez as pawn

This article contains spoilers for Season 9, Episode 3: 'Slashdance'

Episode 3 titled 'Slasherdance' of 'American Horror Story: 1984' just wrapped and it's been a heavy day for fans who were rooting for the Montana and Brooke ship to sail through waters of happily ever after. Turns out, Brooke's creepy Night Stalker, who had attacked her over the summer and followed her all the way to Camp Redwood to finish what he started, is most likely Montana's boyfriend. Either that or Montana just kissed him at the end of episode 3 while he was about to attack her because some sick urges took over her and she was really done with Brooke's incessant whining (for all the right reasons) about being followed by a serial killer. Whatever the reason might be, fans and viewers have come up with their own very solid theories about the same, and honestly? The theories are so crazy it could almost be true, knowing this is a Ryan Murphy brainchild.

Twitter user @PhillipLikesTV thinks "The guy Brooke slept with the night before her wedding was Montana’s boyfriend at the time... but Brooke got him killed. Surprise! #AHS1984" and actually, that's quite possible. We know the Red Wedding of Brooke turned all that ghastly because her fiance suspected she slept with the best man the night before the wedding, and despite Brooke's desperate pleas of being chaste and saving herself for her would-be-husband, the guy shot the best man, Brooke's father, and his own self in the mouth anyway. If the best man was actually Montana's boyfriend, that gives the freaky blonde a fair enough incentive to get her murdered.

User @outpvst backs up the aforementioned theory, saying: "that's why montana was hella predatory towards brooke. she wanted her to think she was falling in love with her so brooke couldn't suspect her. but she didn't even look surprised at her wedding story. she probably knows about it already & that's why she wants to kill her. #ahs1984" This theory would also explain Ramirez telling Margaret in the previous episode that he was here for one particular girl, which we thought was Brooke at the time, but actually it's Montana. Or maybe Montana doesn't really know Ramirez, and is just glad that he is out to get Brooke, because of this very possible theory shared by @PhillipLikesTV: "Maybe Montana just wants Brooke to die because Brooke is getting all the boy’s attention? #AHS1984."

Montana is the kind of daredevil, promiscuous girl to express her in absolutely unexpected and quirky ways, and even if she holds Brooke accountable for the wedding massacre, or just wants her dead because she is stealing the attention, there's no denying that she would make out with a serial killer without any qualms just to express her gratitude, Because you know, she is badass like that. But this theory also quashes any scope for a Montana/Brooke relationship - something that a lot of fans were looking forward to, or at least speculating. But worry not, user @livelovebread speculates: "Brooke and Montana is a enemies to lovers storyline don’t try and fight me on this #AHS1984." So you know, the odds might still be in your favor!

'American Horror Story: 1984' airs on Wednesdays at 10pm/9c only on FX.
