Less than two weeks into its Season 3 run, 'The Boys' has been renewed for Season 4. Amazon Prime Video greenlit a new installment of the blockbuster superhero drama and this comes on the back of a whopping 17% viewership increase from Season 2 and Karl Urban's slip of the tongue at the SXSW Studio that he was shooting the season through the end of the year even as the ongoing edition had packed up on production. It doesn't come as a surprise that the streamer granted a fourth season.

Created by Eric Kripke based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, 'The Boys' official synopsis reads, "Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it's powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Based on the comic book series of the same name."

'The Boys' Season 3 Episode 4: Why did Homelander kill Supersonic, the latest member of the Seven?

Per Amazon, "Over the first three days of its third season, the worldwide audience for ‘The Boys’ has grown by 17% from Season 2, and 234% from Season 1". While the first season saw all eight drop at once, the format changed for the second and third seasons where three episodes would land, followed by one episode every week. Variety suggested that this move was one of the reasons behind the bump in viewership.

The official synopsis of 'The Boys' Season 3 reads, "It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s (Antony Starr) subdued. Butcher (Karl Urban) works for the government, supervised by Hughie (Jack Quaid) of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious anti-supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first superhero: Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles)."

The series stars Urban, Quaid, Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Ackles. 'The Boys' Season 3 airs it's finale on July 8.
