It goes without saying that technology is a part of our everyday lives. It is what encourages us to chase innovation and creativity constantly. For the contestants of 'Alter Ego', technology allows them to explore their talents in ways no other reality show does. As per the show's logline, it is a 'Singing competition where contestants reinvent themselves and perform like never before -- as their dream avatar.'

With Alanis Morissette, Nick Lachey, Grimes and will.i.am as the judges, contestants take on digital avatars while showcasing their singing talents. The judges and the audience only see the avatar perform, ensuring that the judging and voting process depends entirely on their performances.

'Alter Ego': Release date, spoilers and all about FOX virtual reality singing show

For Samaera Hirsch, her reason for being on the show is that she has a deep love for singing and all things technology. She joked about how she came out of the womb singing and always knew that singing was her calling. Performing through an avatar feels natural to her as Misty is an extension of herself and she firmly believes that this is the future. Even her avatar's name, 'Misty Rose' has an interesting story behind it -- Misty is her cat's name, and Rose symbolizes that she had many layers, much like the petals of a rose. When asked by Nick Lachey why she wanted to be on the show, Hirsch mentioned that while she is not ready to be a human pop star, she is all set to be a virtual one. She performed Dua Lipa's 'Levitating', and you can watch the performance here -- "Misty Rose levitated the competition with her insane performance! #AlterEgoFox"

Alanis Morissette was impressed with her ability to chord change effortlessly and even asked her to do so without music. Hirsch nailed it and the judges couldn't help but agree that she had unlimited potential. Although she could not shake Dipper Scott off the Diamond or win the audience vote, the judges were on Hirsch's side when it came down to picking between her and fellow contestant Bernie Burns. This meant that she made it to the next round and there is more of Misty Rose to come!

What do you think? Does Hirsch and her avatar have what it takes to survive the competition? Sound off in the comments below!  'Alter Ego' kick starts Season 1 with a special two-night premiere event, starting Wednesday, September 22 and Thursday, September 23 at 9/8c on Fox.
