All the characters in Prime Video's 'Fallout' ranked, and why Lucy MacLean is not #1
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prime Video's highly anticipated series 'Fallout' made its debut on April 10, 2024, and it has been wooing viewers with its retro-futuristic setting, thrilling plot, and masterfully crafted characters.
'Fallout' introduces us to three central characters - Lucy MacLean (played by Ella Purnell), The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), and Maximus (Aaron Moten). All three of them have been born in a different world, yet their paths coincide for the same mission.
The lead star cast is supported by strong performances by Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Moises Arias as Norm MacLean, and Leslie Uggams as Betty Pearson, amongst others.
After watching and reviewing the series, here we have ranked the characters of 'Fallout' as per our analysis.
1. Maximus
Maximus, is hands down, the best character of 'Fallout'. Aaron Moten takes on the challenging role in the Prime Video series and shines in it.
Maximus is a squire in Brotherhood of Steel. He was born and raised on the surface in the post-apocalyptic world. After his community was ruined to ashes, he took refuge in Brotherhood with the sole dream of becoming a knight.
Throughout the series, we see him struggling with his inner conflicts and making some rash decisions, with most of them putting him in danger.
He is the most complex character in the series and Moten beautifully brings his deep-buried emotions to life.
2. The Ghoul/Cooper Howard
The second most intriguing character is Cooper Howard. He is someone who survived the nuclear exchange and became mutated due to the radiation.
With a zombie-like appearance, he is now about 250 years old and referred to as 'Ghoul'. His story moves back and forth in the pre and post-apocalyptic world.
He is charming as a Hollywood actor and even more alluring as a Ghoul. His persona and casual comic style make him intriguing, especially regarding the dynamics with his wife.
3. Norm MacLean
Norm MacLean is one of the most pivotal characters in 'Fallout'. While Lucy MacLean goes to the surface to look for her father, her brother Norm stays back in the vault and investigates the secrets in his own capacity.
He looks fearful all the time, yet he is curious and brave. Moises Arias has portrayed Norm's conflicting emotions skillfully.
4. Lucy MacLean
Although Lucy MacLean is the lead character of the series, she comes at #4 on our list. She is a lively, optimistic, and brave vault dweller who steps out of Vault 33 to rescue her father, Hank.
Ella Purnell is charming as Lucy but we feel that her character lacked the gravitas. There's undoubtedly a missed opportunity for Lucy to have some action in the violent world or meaningful dialogues when she uncovers the truth in the climax episode.
You find yourself eagerly anticipating Lucy's character development to reach its peak, only to see the series conclude without fulfilling that potential.
5. Moldaver
Moldaver is introduced as the antagonist in the pilot episode. Without giving you any spoilers, let us tell you that she is one of the most interesting characters in the series. Though she has a very limited presence, it is definitely a memorable one.
She is the commander of a New California Republic military division who abducts Hank MacLean in the first episode. You have to wait for a long time until she reappears and changes the trajectory altogether.
