All American’ is finally back in our lives and although it’s the first episode after the Winter break, things are already getting intense on the show. Prior to the break, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) had taken all the blame for stealing the trophy and saving his friends. However, things are not looking good for him because the school is taking action on what happened that day.

Episode 8 of Season 4 started with Spencer and Jabari (Simeon Daise) meeting with each other and having a kind of an argument about everything that’s been happening. Jabari told him that he can’t take the fall for him because the school will expel him and his future will be in danger. But Spencer tells him that he isn’t thinking about that and won’t let anyone else take the fall. Meanwhile, at school, Spencer gets to know that the school is investigating the matter and they are planning to take disciplinary action against him.

One of the teachers tells him that he knows Spencer hasn’t done anything and all the management wants is a name and nothing else. If Spencer gives him a name, then everyone else can go back and enjoy their lives like they were doing before. Spencer is adamant that he won’t give away any name because their future will be on the line. The drama doesn’t stop here and when Spencer reaches home, his mother also asks him about everything he is doing.

She tells him that it’s about his future and not just his, but also Dillon’s future as well.
Elsewhere, Spencer’s friends are making a plan on how to support him. They all decide to boycott the graduation ceremony and put pressure on the school management. However, Spencer reaches there with his girlfriend Olivia (Samantha Logan) and tells them that no one is going to skip the graduation because it’s the most important thing in anybody’s life. He also says that they deserve to celebrate this moment and not make plans for ruining those celebrations.

Jabari talks to him and says he can’t do that because he has a bright future and as soon as he graduates, good things are going to happen. Spencer stops him and tells him that this is what they want.

The day of the disciplinary meeting is here and the committee feels that if Spencer doesn’t reveal the names of who stole the trophy, he will be expelled. Spencer remains quiet and one of the jury members says that it’s a shame because he (Spencer) is one of the good ones. Spencer gets annoyed by hearing that and says that’s the problem with the system because it divides. He also tells them that the school management should have been “defenders” of the students, but what’s happening here is the opposite.

Suddenly, Jabari enters the basketball court and tells the jury he was the one who stole the trophy and set off the sprinklers. After that, all his friends and a certain section of students arrive at the court in order to help Spencer.

The episode ended on a bittersweet note because Spencer didn’t get expelled from the school, but it was all because of D’Angelo. He told the committee that he, as the principal of South Crenshaw School, encouraged the pranks and the committee did accept that. So, D’Angelo has been fired from his job and he is not the principal of the school anymore.

High school has ended and it's the beginning of a new era for everyone.
