'AGT' Season 19: Watch Sofia Vergara's reaction as Owl Man belts out a 2000 classic
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: In the latest episode of 'America's Got Talent' Season 19, Owl Man was the first act to take the stage and showcase his talents during the auditions.
During his audition, Owl Man, aka David Safier, appeared in a full owl costume. When he's not in his feathered getup, the contestant works as a security guard at a popular fast food chain.
Despite his unique appearance, Owl Man performed a rendition of the popular song 'Who Let the Dogs Out.' However, his audition was abruptly cut short when all four judges unanimously hit their red X buttons.
Soon after his act, Sofia Vergara expressed her disappointment with Owl Man's performance, criticizing everything from his costume to his overall presentation. "Bad costume, bad everything," she remarked. Unfortunately, Owl Man was eliminated from the competition after receiving a buzz from all the judges.
Who is Owl Man on 'AGT' Season 19?
David Safier, also known as 'Owl Man,' gained recognition after his appearance on 'The Gong Show' in 2017, where he performed as the character 'The Owl Man.' Despite being gonged, Safier continued to pursue an entertainment career, showcasing his talents on ABC by performing a song parody of The Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" while dressed as an owl.
Safier holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from the University of California and has furthered his studies in Improv Comedy at The Groundlings. He has also taken acting and conducting courses at Santa Monica College and recently completed the Entrepreneur Training Program in California.
Did Owl Man win 'AGT' Season 17?
Owl Man, a contestant on Season 19 of 'America's Got Talent', had previously made an appearance on the show during Season 17 under the persona of Parrot Man. Despite showcasing his quirky and entertaining solo comedy routine, Parrot Man was unable to make it past the audition round and was ultimately eliminated from the competition.
Many viewers at the time mistakenly associated him with the infamous Sethward, leading to speculation that he might make a comeback to play a prank on the judges once again.
Despite David Safier's efforts, his Parrot Man act did not resonate with fans and was criticized as the most irritating act of the season. Nevertheless, Parrot Man was invited back for Season 18 to showcase his talents in a special paid performance as part of a partnership between 'AGT' and sponsor 'KIA'.
'America's Got Talent' Season 19 airs a new episode every Tuesday at 8 pm ET only on NBC.
