Her artistic journey has taken her across Europe, the USA, Canada, China, Japan, and Taiwan, showcasing her talents to audiences worldwide.
Hailing from Taiwan, this versatile musician showcases proficiency across a spectrum of instruments. From the Irish banjo and ukulele to five traditional Chinese instruments—the zhongruan, liuqin, sanxian, yueqin, and pipa.
In a recent email exchange with NBC, Nini expressed her passion for music and her desire to educate others about her instruments and share the rich culture of Taiwan with a global audience.
Through her innovative approach to blending modern genres such as rock, metal, and electronic dance music with the distinctive sounds of her traditional instruments, Nini is on a mission to create unique and captivating music that resonates with listeners worldwide.
“I think that many people around the world have never seen or heard my instruments, so if I can get just one person in my stream to remember or be interested in my instruments and culture, I feel I have accomplished my goal,” she said.
Originally from Yuanlin City in Changhua County, Nini embarked on her musical journey at the age of seven when she started studying traditional Chinese instruments at the Conservatorium of Tainan National University of the Arts.
After completing her education, Nini took an unconventional path by busking for a year before resigning from her job as a music instructor on Liuqiu Island, located near Kaohsiung.
