'AGT' Season 19: Internet claims 'chaotic' performance from Los Osos High School was 'lackluster start' to show
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Tuesday, May 28, NBC premiered Season 19 of 'America's Got Talent', with judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofía Vergara. However, the opening performance left viewers disappointed, with many accusing Los Osos High School of delivering a mediocre audition for the chance at a $1 million prize and a headline show in Las Vegas.
The school's dance squad wanted to perform in the Super Bowl and feature in television ads. They assured Simon that they firmly believe in their abilities and are confident in their potential to win.
Simon stated, "It's like High School Musical." The LOHS varsity dance team then performed "OMG" and "YEAH" by Usher.
The high school dance group was accompanied by their choreographer and the school's principal. While they demonstrated competence for a high school group, they were not deemed exceptional by the judges.
'AGT' has showcased some truly exceptional dance ensembles, setting a high standard for talent. Despite initial skepticism, Simon seemed delighted by the end of the performance.
On Reddit, viewers reacted to the first audition, with one saying, "A dance team. Starting mid." One user asked, "They could be good but why are we getting to the point where high school dance teams are auditioning for agt? unless they’re gonna set themselves apart from other school dance teams."
Another user wrote, "I feel like these dancers are trying to overwhelm me with humans." One user said, "Howie and Heidi are on point. there’s definitely been a bar set with dance acts on this show. this feels like what it should be, a high school assembly show."
Some users agreed with Howie, with one writing, "Lackluster start. Howie was right." Another added, "Dark Howie is back! Thankfully there is one judge that has a brain."
On X, one fan wrote, "It was just a bunch of them running around. Very cute for a pep rally. Lol . I wish them the best." Another chimed in, "Chaos on stage."
It was just a bunch of them running around. Very cute for a pep rally. Lol 😂😅. I wish them the best.

Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum disagree with Simon Cowell after Los Osos High School audition in 'AGT' Season 19
Sofia praised it as "perfect" and remarked, "Good job." However, Heidi offered constructive criticism, noting that at one point, the dancers resembled a kaleidoscope and suggested that the dance team needed to improve their choreography.
Howie acknowledged the support of the crowd and agreed with Heidi that the standard has been elevated this season. He noted the exceptional dancers featured on 'AGT' and expressed the belief that the high school dance group should have incorporated at least one standout move.
Simon expressed strong disagreement with Heidi and Howie's critiques, emphasizing that he thoroughly enjoyed the performance. He described it as "brilliant" and appreciated the dancers' enthusiasm. It seems Simon is grading them using a separate set of standards. Howie said no; Sofia said yes; Simon said yes; and Heidi answered yes. The LOHS varsity dance team advanced to the next round!
