'AGT' 2022 Finale: Avery Dixon fails to secure spot amongst top 5, angry fans say he was 'robbed'

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: The finale episode of 'America's Got Talent' Season 17 had more twists and turns than a Telemundo series. As the talent hunt show's host Terry Crews began announcing the names of the contestants from amongst the Top 11 finalists who would be advancing to subsequent rounds, fans experienced a myriad of feelings from joy to disappointment.

So, when Terry revealed that two of the fan-favorite contestants- singer Sara James and saxophonist Avery Dixon didn't make the cut to the Top 5. Instead, country music group Chapel Hart was advancing to the Top 5, fans were left fuming. 'AGT' fans were especially upset over Avery's result, as many fans were rooting for him to be at least amongst the Top 3 considering his emotional back story and exceptional talent.

Several fans took to Twitter to slam the audience voting, and the results. A fan tweeted, "Avery got robbed....Really wanted to see him in the top 5.... #AGT." "#AGT #AGTFinals America got the top 5 very wrong!! Both Sara James and Avery deserved to be TOP 5!! No doubt about it," wrote a fan. ".@SimonCowell #AGT HOW DID DRAKE NOT WIN!! HOW DID THE POLE DANCER MAKE TOP 2 WTF IS WRONG WITH AMERICA SARA AND AVERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE TOP 5 SMH!!" seconded a fan. "Was stuck between Avery Dixon and the Mayyas to win #AGT Happy that the Mayyas won but AVERY NOT EVEN IN THE TOP 3!? I’m flabbergasted," commented a fan. "Sara James & Avery Dixon just got snubbed… Chapel Hart was horrendous last night #AGT," pointed out a fan.

Despite Avery's journey on 'AGT' being cut short, fans are still rooting for the talented saxophonist to make it big in the music industry. A fan shared, "Avery Dixon will go far. I looooove him, his talent and his story. #AGT." "I feel sorry for Avery Dixon he is an amazing talent but he will be safe too Trombone shorty will take him under his wing you watch....#AGT," predicted a fan. "Avery is talented, he’s gonna go places, he need to take the loss and take what he had with dignity. #AGTFinale," expressed a fan.

Lebanese dancers group The Mayyas were crowned the winners, while pole dancer Kristy Sellars came in second, and fan-favorite country singer Drake Milligan took home third place.
