Why was Guillermo del Toro in 'Barry'?

The most recent episode of 'Barry' features del Toro as a crime king named Toro. Toro is recruited by NoHo Hank to kill Barry while he's in prison. He offers to send two of his best men to complete the task and says he can, but this chat sparks a funny fight with Hank about a tech podcast.

Since the success of 'Barry', lead actor and creator Bill Hader has gained recognition as one of the best new directors in the business and has acquired some priceless friends in the process. One of those pals is del Toro, a man who created some of the greatest films ever. It appears that the renowned director was delighted to provide a hand by making a brief appearance in the popular comedy series. However, he made it difficult for Hader by choosing to make fun of the actor-turned-director frequently when they were collaborating.
