LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When ‘Barry’ started no one knew that this show would turn out to be this dark and it just kept on getting better with each passing episode. It is one of those shows that changed a lot over the years, but the quality hasn’t dropped. At first, every character in the TV series was forging their own way and making their own stories. With the premiere of Season 4, it seems like they are trying to forge their way out of a bubble that the show’s titular character had set up for himself. The premiere also made us realize how much the show has evolved and surpassed all our expectations with flying colors. The bubble burst at the end of Season 3 and everything inside it has now come out. Now, it would be interesting to see how every character would behave when things start to get worse.

Coming back to the premiere starts with Barry (Bill Hader) trying to adjust to prison life. He is scared, nervous, and absolutely furious at himself. He punches the wall of the bathroom and injures himself. However, we also see the other side of Barry when a police officer tries to make him understand that everything will be okay. We see the twisted mind of Barry doing what he does best: annoying people. He confesses that he is a cop killer and he would kill his entire family if he would have seen the aforementioned police officer in the streets. This shows how damaged he is and after the incident, Barry is damaged from the inside and outside as well. His face is covered in blood and is found lying on the bathroom floor.

Elsewhere, we see characters like Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) and Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg) adjusting their lives after the arrest of Barry. Gene wants to tell the story about how he helped the police in catching Barry and why this story needs to be told. On the other hand, Sally is having a hard with everything that’s been happening and is unable to control herself. She is having nightmares about the man who wanted to kill her and is looking out for a middle ground.

Every single character on the show is now on their own path to do something with their lives and all of them refuse in their own way.

The show is doing a phenomenal job of giving every character the room that they need to make the final season an absorbing one. Hank (Anthony Carrigan) is one character who is planning to do the unthinkable and is trying to end everything by taking Barry out. This is one character that’s going to play an important role this season because if Barry speaks, Hank would be the first person that will be behind the bars.

Once again, the writers of this show should be applauded for creating a universe that’s engaging, thrilling, and chaotic. The craft remains impeccable and Bill Hader is absolutely killing it with his acting and directing skills.

Season 4 of ‘Barry’ has started on an extraordinary note and everything seems to be perfect as of now. We believe that the final set of episodes will be filled with revelations, betrayals, and heartbreaks. The performances are flawless and the series just cannot be missed.

TV, generally, doesn’t get better than this.
