AAA 2021: 'Squid Game' star Lee Jungjae, Aespa among stars to attend awards show
The end of the year brings with it various K-pop and K-drama year-end award ceremonies. So far, Mnet’s Asian Music Awards, Melon Music Awards, Asia Artist Awards among other big ceremonies have all announced online events for this year due to the ongoing pandemic.
So far, the 2021 Asia Music Awards have announced the date for the ceremony on December 2, and it will be held at the KBS Arena Hall.
The ceremony will be hosted by Super Junior’s Leeteuk and former IZ*ONE member Jang Wonyoung. The event will celebrate artists from all over South Korea and other Asian countries and a star-studded guest list is expected at the ceremony.
This time around, the Asia Artist Awards has brought back awards by popularity where fans from Japan and South Korea vote for their favorites among categories like Best Male K-pop group, Best Female K-pop group, Best Male Solo Idol, Best Female Solo Idol, Best Actor Male, and Best Actor Female.

Aespa to attend Asia Artist Awards
Among the first names of K-pop, SM Entertainment’s ‘monster rookies’ Aespa (stylized as aespa) will be seen on the Asia Artist Awards of 2021. The group has been gaining a lot of popularity over their most recent comeback with their first mini-album ‘Savage’; the album made them half-million sellers only 11 months after their debut. Others who will be seen at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards are actors Lee Jungjae, Lee Seunggi, Yoo Ahin, Han Sohee.
Actors Lee Jungjae, who garnered global recognition with ‘Squid Game' and won the grand prize at the 2020 AAA for Best Actor of the Year will make an appearance at the ceremony. The other actor who will make an appearance at the ceremony is singer-turned-actor Lee Seunggi, who was widely recognized for his performance in the tvN K-drama ‘Mouse’. Actor Yoo Ahin will be present at the ceremony and is expected to be awarded for his stupendous performance in the movie ‘Voice of Silence.’
Actors from the young generation join in
The show will also see many young actors including Netflix’s ‘Nevertheless’ fame Han Sohee, who won the title for the Best New Artist at the 2020 AAA for her role in the drama ‘The World of the Married’, which marked her breakout performance. Han Sohee is currently seen on the Netflix show ‘My Name’, which is rated highly on the platform.
Moon Gayoung and Cha Eunwoo, who were last seen together in the K-drama ‘True Beauty’, have also confirmed their attendance. Actor Na Inwoo, who was last seen in a cameo appearance on the web series ‘At a Distance, Spring is Green’, and former member of NU’EST Hwang Minhyun, who was last seen in the JTBC drama ‘Live On’, will also be attending the event.
