2021 Asia Artist Awards: South Korea chosen as venue, NOT Japan for year-end festival
The Asia Artists Awards also popularly known as AAA is coming back for the year 2021. They have announced an in-person show after their global online showcase in 2020. Last year, Covid concerns were too high to risk a traditional ceremony. But this year, as most of the industry starts opening back up with in-person concerts and events to meet fans in person, the original awards show format is back. Many Korean celebrities will be seen interacting in-person after a long time at the December award show.
The Asia Artist Awards, a show that celebrates its sixth anniversary in 2021 was launched in 2016 as the first Asian artist awards ceremony from South Korea. The show selects winners for various titles from the different genres of the Korean Entertainment industry. Due to its unique nature, fans of South Korean entertainment can see idols and celebrities from K-Pop, K-Dramas, and K-Movies appear at the year-end show where they are conferred awards for their contribution to the industry over the last year.
The ceremony honors outstanding achievements and international contributions of Asian artists in television, film, and music. The show saw its inaugural ceremony on November 16, 2016, at Kyung Hee University's Hall of Peace in Seoul, and was broadcast live via satellite across Asia.

Broadcast Date
The Asia Artist Award will be held on December 2 where Korean celebrities will meet in person. The ceremony is organized by South Korea-based business newspaper Money Today and its global media brands StarNews and MTN.
Hosts
Super Junior’s leader Leeteuk who has been appearing as the host for the ceremony since its inception will resume his position as the host of the ceremony. This year he will also be joined by Jang Wonyoung, a former member of IZ*ONE as the second MC for the ceremony.
Venue
The awards for the 2020 Asia Artist Awards were presented online to abide by the norms due to the Covid-19 situation. This time around, the show will have an offline event at KBS Arena. KBS Arena Hall is a concert hall in the Korean Broadcasting System headquarters located in Gangseogu, Seoul in South Korea.
Judging method
The Asia Artist Awards is one show where famous celebrities from South Korea, as well as overseas, gather together. This is why global standards apply in terms of the selection of winners for the ceremony.
The winners are decided based on the global data targeting fans from all over the words including and not limited to countries like South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Argentina, South America, Mexico, North America, and Europe. To make the results fair and transparent, a global fan-based scoring system is a must. This makes the ceremony a fan-led event.
Voting and How to Watch
As the winners are decided through global fan voting, the award ceremony will start accepting votes for the first qualifiers from October 13 to October 18. The second qualifiers will begin to accept votes from October 20 to October 27 and the third and final qualifiers will begin voting from November 1 to November 15. Fans will soon be given more information about the official broadcast channel for them to watch the event live globally.
Performances and lineup
Although there is no official confirmation about the current lineup and performances at the ceremony, fans expect many big names from the Korean industry to appear at the show. The lineup from the 2020 ceremony saw K-pop artists like Mamamoo, NCT 127, Treasure, ITZY, Stray Kids, Monsta X, GOT7, Twice, ONEUS, Cravity, Secret Number, Kang Daniel, beatboxer Bigman, and AleXa, and more.
The Daesangs (Grand Prizes) were awarded to BTS for Song of the Year with ‘Dynamite’. GOT7 won the title for Performance of the Year. Monsta X won the title for ‘Stage of the Year’ while NCT won the title for Album of the Year for ‘NCT 2020 Resonance: Part 1’. Twice was also among the winners, grabbing the title for Artist of the Year.
The acting-centric awards were won by Kim Soohyun for the K-drama, ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay,’ while Lee Jungjae who is stealing the spotlight for his lead role in the K-drama ‘Squid Game’ won the title for ‘Best Actor in a Lead Role’ film, ‘Deliver Us from Evil’.
