With 2021 nearing an end, more and more platforms are collating data of the whole year and releasing lists on the best of the best. And we have South Korea dominating in most fields whether it is Netflix or music charts. From YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music to Japan’s LINE, South Korea’s Gaon and USA’s Billboard, K-pop has pretty much taken over. This is evident with widely popular K-pop groups like BTS, NCT and Blackpink charting on Billboard’s year-end charts for 2021.

We also have them making records as BTS topped 10 Billboard year-end charts in 2021. Lisa on the other hand is the only female K-pop idol to chart this year while her group Blackpink with ‘The Album’ is the first girl group to be on Billboard 200 for two years in a row since Destiny’s Child 20 years ago.

NCT, Seventeen and TWICE also entered with multiple albums while SuperM charted with their debut album. We also have fourth-gen groups like Itzy, TXT and rookie group Enhypen entering the charts.
