'1883': 5 things to know about Paramount's prequel to 'Yellowstone'

Yellowstone’ has been one of the finest shows on television in recent years. Engaging storylines and interesting characters make it one of the shows that you cannot miss. However, there’s a lot that fans don’t know. We don’t know the family history of the Duttons and how did they come here or how did they start working in Yellowstone. Fans have been quite curious about getting to know all the little details about the Duttons and it seems, Paramount is giving them a chance to delve deeper into the world of cowboys.

The network is set to enthrall the audiences with the prequel of ‘Yellowstone’, titled ‘1883’, which follows the Dutton Family embarking on a journey to the west through Great Plains. Set in the 19th century, the show will also explore the Duttons established themselves and become one of the most dominating figures in the state of Montana.

The upcoming show seems to be a worthy addition to Paramount’s catalog which already has ventures such as ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ and ‘The Good Fight’. With all the good word of mouth about ‘Yellowstone’, the upcoming show will nab all the eyeballs for sure.

When does ‘1883’ release and where can you watch it

The upcoming drama series will be premiering exclusively on Paramount+ on Sunday, December 19. According to the network, the show will be having a 2-hour premiere event on the streaming service and will start streaming at 3:01 am EST.

What is ‘1883’ all about

The official synopsis reads, “The show follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.”

Who stars in the Paramount+ series

Country music power couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw will be seen playing the roles of Margaret and James Dutton, respectively. Meanwhile, the western-genre veteran Sam Elliot will be portraying the character of Shea Brennan.

Faith Hill

Winner of five Grammys and 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, Faith Hill is one of the most influential names in the entertainment industry. In 2009, Billboard named her as the No. 1 Adult Contemporary artist of the 2000s decade and also as the 39th best artist. Hill is known for producing some of the greatest country songs of all time such as ‘This Kiss’, ‘Breathe’, ‘There You’ll be’, ‘Cry’, and ‘Mississippi Girl’.

Hill received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019.

Other actors on the show include Isabel May as Elsa Dutton, LaMonica Garrett as Thomas, Marc Rissman as Josef Eric Nelse as Ennis, and Dawn Olivieri as Claire Dutton.

Showrunners

The show has been created by none other than Taylor Sheridan, who is also the co-creator of ‘Yellowstone’. Apart from Sheridan, notable personalities such as Ron Burkle, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, and Bob Yari serve as executive producers on the show.
