Paramount+ launched one more latest show, this time starring 'Avengers' star Jeremy Renner in 'Mayor of Kingstown'. The American crime thriller series is created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon and premiered November 14 to impressive reviews by critics and the audience alike

The intriguing series walks us through the powerful McLusky family, and the brokers in Kingstown, where imprisonment is the only blooming profession. The series focuses on racism, corruption in the real world, negligence, and inequality. We can expect to see wild attempts in trying to bring justice, law, and order to a town that has seen none. What's more, the must-watch has a star-studded cast in Renner and Dianne Wiest in lead roles, alongside Kyle Chandler, Emma Laird, Derek Webster, Taylor Handley, Hugh Dillon, Pha'rez Lass, Tobi Bamtefa, Aidan Gillen, and Hamish Allan-Headley.

In the very first episode of Season 1 of the crime series, the sole characters of color were a handful of prison guards, the prisoners themselves, as well as the drug dealing leader of the Crips, called Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa). The other significant characters were played by white male actors, none of whom have the ideal "good guy" personality. Aside from Wiest, who plays the important role of a prison teacher, her purpose in the series' storyline isn't explored to its fullest; the only other important women were the executed convict's sister, a stripper, and a prostitute.

Aside from working on the cast representation, viewers are sure to have more questions than answers after watching the first episode in itself, but that's also the important factor that has the series' audience caught at the edge of their seats, in order to be intrigued enough to wait for the next episode to drop.  The thriller is undoubtedly a viewing experience in itself, with its bleak drama offering a fresh perspective and completely different take at the prison industry, that served just about enough to leave a lasting impression.

Episode 1 of Season 1 of 'Mayor of Kingstown' is available to stream on Paramount+.
