Why is 'Young Sheldon' Season 4 Episode 6 not airing today? Here's what you can expect after show's winter break

The last episode of 'Young Sheldon' aired on Thursday, December 17, 2020, with Season 4 Episode 5 'A Musty Crypt and a Stick to Pee On' where we saw Dale Ballard (Craig T Nelson) and Connie "Meemaw" Tucker (Annie Potts) work out their relationship concerns as they played Dungeons and Dragons with Meemaw's grandchildren Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) and Missy Cooper (Raegan Revord).
With Big George (Lance Barber) and Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry) on a trip with Coach Wilkins (Doc Farrow) and his wife, their oldest son Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) has a dilemma of his own when his girlfriend thinks she's pregnant — he ends up buying her a test making for a hilarious episode. Unfortunately, a new episode for Season 4 will not air this week.
On Thursday, December 24, 2020, an old episode titled, 'A Boyfriend's Ex-Wife and a Good Luck Head Rub' will air. A new episode will air after another week of hiatus — Season 4 Episode 6 titled 'Freshman Orientation and the Inventor of the Zipper' will air on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 8 pm EST on CBS. For next week's slot, on Thursday, December 31, 2020, another old episode titled 'A Secret Letter and a Lowly Disc of Processed Meat' will air.
The official synopsis and trailer for 'Freshman Orientation and the Inventor of the Zipper' are yet to be released, but the headline says Freshman Orientation, so we suspect that Sheldon is about to start his journey as a young prodigy in college.
Throughout the season so far, we've seen Sheldon prepare for this part of his life, as he learned to be more independent in how he does things, especially in Season 4 Episode 3 'Training Wheels and an Unleashed Chicken' where he hurt his arm and learned to soothe himself without his mother. We're waiting on details of the upcoming new episode and we're sure the promo will give us some insight on the second part of the title 'Inventor of the Zipper'.
