'The Big Bang Theory' saw the turbulent, yet oddly close friendship of Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) go from strength to strength, till they were almost brothers at the end of the sitcom that ran for 12 years. In 'Young Sheldon', we got a pleasant Easter Egg, as it is revealed at the end of the fourth season premiere that Sheldon named his son Leonard Cooper.

What's even more wholesome, is that we got to hear Amy Farrafowler's  (Mayim Bialik) voice telling him to be jolly grateful that he was allowed to name him Leonard. While this does seem sweet, this caused some worry among fans on whether Leonard died in the future. "wonder if leonard died early," a fan tweeted. "Amy and Sheldon had a son and named him after Leonard! I didn't know I needed to hear this until now... #YoungSheldon," a fan wrote.

"Sheldon naming his son Leonard is probably the best form of gratitude towards his best friend. #YoungSheldon," tweeted another fan. "Weeeeell, when he said that he named his son Leonard, I thought that it was a nice homage to his best friend. However, Leonard Nimoy is awesome as well, #YoungSheldon," another fan wrote. ""ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? SHELDON AND AMY NAME THEIR SON LEONARD COOPER ????? GOODBYE GOODNIGHT #YoungSheldon," another tweeted.

Co-creator Steve Molaro had teased a TBBT Easter Egg before the premiere, which had led to much excitement among fans. "Adult Sheldon is not alone in his narration at the end of the episode,” Molaro told TVLine. “It’s a fun, unexpected continuation of the Big Bang Theory storyline.” There have been several TBBT references on 'Young Sheldon'. Earlier, Kaley Cuoco who played Penny on the show, did a voiceover too.

The episode focussed mostly on Sheldon coming to terms with him leaving for college. " “Sheldon has been striving to [advance] for several years now, and it’s a little bit of ‘be careful what you wish for',” Molaro said. “Sheldon finally is getting to go to college, and the reality of that, and what it means for his life, starts to dawn on him.”

'Young Sheldon' airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8 pm.
