Seven episodes into Season 3, 'Yellowstone' is finally picking up pace. And in doing so, it is making some very important revelations. If you haven't watched Episode 7, 'The Beating' yet, we would warn you from proceeding.

In the latest episode, the show revealed that apparently the most hated member of the Dutton family, Jamie (Wes Bentley), is not a Dutton after all. He was adopted as a young child by John (Kevin Costner) and his wife Evelyn (Gretchen Mol) in order to save him from his violent father. As it turns out, Jamie's real father, Garrett Randall, had beaten his birth mother Phyllis Randall to death. In order to save the young boy, Evelyn and John adopted him into the Dutton family, giving him all the opportunities in the world, making him the man that he is today.

While this may have been the case now, for the longest time, fans of the show had theorised Jamie's true origins. Obviously getting it accurate to the T was not possible, but there was never doubt in many a fan's minds that he was not a Dutton. Reasons varied from his professional choice to John's constant dismissal of him. Now, many say that the reason was right in front of our eyes. Drawing a 'Game of Thrones' parallel with the show - a fan called it the Baratheon theory

Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) had Joffrey Baratheon, Myrcella Baratheon and Tommen Baratheon with Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) as his legal heirs. It is, however, revealed early on that it was Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) who fathered the children out of their incestuous relationship. It was Ned Stark (Sean Bean) who made this discovery after the genetics test - with Robert having black hair, at least one of his children must have the same.

Similar is the case with the Duttons — both John and Evelyn are blondes — leading to all their children Lee (Dave Annable), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) to inherit the same hair. Only Jamie has black hair. Fans say it is an old trick. "Last week I said that I didn’t believe he was John’s son because of the old TV trick that he was the only child with black hair. I got hammered by this a**hat who "well actually-ed" me about genetics when I was only talking about TV genetics (I call it the Baratheon theory)."

Leave it to the fans to make strong speculations. Although it is not exactly the strongest reasoning out there, there is no doubt that TV genetics are a flimsy scene to begin with.

'Yellowstone' airs on Sundays at 9 pm ET/ PT on Paramount Network.
