‘Yellowstone’ fans call out Taylor Sheridan’s 'God complex' for conflict with Kevin Costner
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A source alleges that Taylor Sheridan's 'God complex' contributed to the rumored dispute between him and 'Yellowstone' actor Kevin Costner, which has only served to spread speculation of Sheridan's claimed national park-sized ego. As per the insider who spoke to The Daily Mail about the supposed conflict between Sheridan and Costner, "Certain people in charge of the production developed a God complex."
New York Post broke the story on Monday, April 17, that 'Yellowstone' would end after the fifth season. This occurs amid rumors of conflict between Costner, 68, and Sheridan, 52. One of the best television programs of this period, 'Yellowstone,' helped Kevin Costner relaunch his acting career. The Paramount series premiered in 2018 and quickly rose to prominence as one of the most popular series on television. Fans hoped it would run for a few more seasons as it also broke many viewership records for the major production company.

'Stick to acting'
Sources claimed that Costner, who recently won a Golden Globe for playing John Dutton and serves as an executive producer on the popular drama, will "forever be proud" of the show and called the cast "family," but he believed 'Yellowstone' had "headed in a direction that was not in line with their initial vision." According to the sources, when Costner voiced his concerns, he was allegedly instructed to "just stick to acting" and was then removed.
Even though Costner has made himself available, a source told The Post earlier in the week that Sheridan's "overburdened" schedule has prevented preparation and filming. The blame has also been attributed to Costner, per contradicting reports. According to a Deadline article from February, which Costner's lawyer refuted, Costner declined to devote more than one week to filming the second half of Season 5.
The start of filming for the second half of the last season has not yet been scheduled. The rancher family drama, which stars Kevin Costner (who received a Golden Globe nomination for the part), Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, and the late David Annable as Lee Dutton's adult children, has been a huge success.
'There are two sides to every story'
Internet users immediately took to social media to slam Sheridan for his "God complex" which would eventually lead to the end of the hit drama series. One user wrote on Twitter, "My father always said that there are two sides to every story, then there's the truth. Don't think we'll ever know. #yellowstone @Yellowstone." Another one tweeted, "I have no doubt that Kevin Costner’s assertion that Taylor Sheridan has a “God complex” is true." Someone else wrote, "Taylor Sheridan's 'God complex' created tension on Yellowstone set. I was addicted to Yellowstone and it is pathetic that Sheridan's ego refused to comprehend that Kevin Costner = Yellowstone." Another Twitter user typed, "Sheridan has always been an a**h***. Kevin Costner is a class act." Someone else chimed in, "Taylor just wants to continuously stick it to FX and Sons of Anarchy for how that played out." Another Costner fan commented, "Costner is right. Shows have taken a crazy turn last two years. Started right when Sheridan started doing four shows."

Hit Paramount series to end over dispute
A report that Sheridan might be trying to expand the universe with the help of another superstar was the source of the entire dispute. The executives at Paramount are eager to put the series "in its current form" to a close and are eager to begin work on a new project with Matthew McConaughey, based on the report. Since then, there have been many rumors claiming that things between Costner and Sheridan are tense.
The New York Post stated that although Costner and Sheridan "respect" each other, there is undoubtedly some "friction" between them. The source went on to say, "It’s the same as with any showrunner and big star — there’s respect, but there’s friction." The divide may have started because Sheridan always wants to be the most significant character in all of his shows, said a different Hollywood insider, and Costner cannot be held entirely responsible for it.
The insider did add, though, that everyone would like the two to resolve their disputes so that the show could close on a high note. The source did say that the end is in sight, however, "We’re hoping it will be worked out," the person continued. "It’s too big a show for things not to be worked out. Hopefully, Kevin will return for the remaining episodes, if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season."
