How was Kevin Costner & Modern West created?
As a child, Costner took music seriously, singing in the church choir and playing the piano and guitar. When he first arrived in Hollywood in the '80s, he met John Coinman at a Los Angeles acting workshop, and the two hit it off right away. They soon joined up with Blair Forward, another friend, to form the band Roving Boy. As per Outsider, recalling that time, Costner said, "That was really when none of us had any money. The workshop was free." The band was not successful and at that time, his acting career was growing, so focussing on music became difficult.
It was in 2005 that Costner's wife, Christine Baumgartner, encouraged him to try again. The band Kevin Costner and Modern West was born after Coinman enlisted the help of lead guitarist and producer Teddy Morgan, drummer Larry Cobb and Park Chisolm.
'Tales From Yellowstone'
Kevin Costner & Modern West have released other albums, 'Turn It On' and 'From Where I Stand', over the years. Costner expressed his delight that the 'Tales From Yellowstone' album had been available for a whole year on the first anniversary of its release on Instagram. Costner captioned the post, "Can't believe #TalesFromYellowstone has been out an entire year. This project was really special to me and the band—a chance to get into the mind of John Dutton, my character on @yellowstone, and express his emotions musically."
Is Season 5 the last for 'Yellowstone'?
'Yellowstone' is undoubtedly one of the finest shows on TV and fans thought it would be around for a long time. However, there were reports that Season 5 would be the final season of the Paramount+ show. There were rumors of an ogoing feud between Costner and show creator, Taylor Sheridan, according to the New York Post. Sources said, "It’s the same as with any showrunner and big star — there’s respect, but there’s friction."
Sheridan is reportedly planning to expand the 'Yellowstone' universe further. Paramount+ executives are eager to create a new spin-off with Matthew McConaughey as lead. Costner, at the same time, reportedly wanted to focus on a Western movie franchise of his own, titled, 'Horizon', due to which he refused to spend more than a week filming Season 5 Part 2 of 'Yellowstone'.
