'Yellowjackets' Episode 10 Finale: 'Sic Transit Gloria Mundi' confirms Jackie's death

If anything, 'Yellowjackets' is just getting started. But while at it, there are also some burning questions that are answered, although much of the show's fans may disagree with this statement. One of the questions asked was 'How did Jackie die?' and 'Sic Transit Gloria Mundi' answers that one. Ella Purnell's character had to be one of the most loved and hated characters partly due to her volatile nature. In the previous episode, she ensured all bridges were burnt when she had sex with Travis, knowing fully well that he and Natalie liked each other.
Plus, there was that unresolved conflict between her and Shauna (Sophie Nelisse)that comes to a head in the finale. Following the events of the previous episode where the gang of survivors, all high on shrooms thought Travis was bait. Before prepping to slit him like prey, they did manage to come close to a forced orgy before the teen breaks free and manages to escape. The hungover and recovering teens realize the consequences of their actions, but Jackie decides to take it one step further to make them realize the gravity of their actions.

Not all teens were keen on making amends as they let their hate for Jackie get the better of them. An argument ensues between their team captain and Shauna, following which the former decides to sleep outside. Although Shauna secretly worries that Jackie might not be able to withstand the pain and the harsh forest environment, she decides to sleep it off, only to wake up after a nightmare. It was almost a premonition that Jackie wouldn't make it, and the reality was that she didn't.
It had snowed in the wilderness that night while the teens slept through blissfully, The cold had killed Jackie as she died in her sleep frozen to death. The confirmation came when Shauna cried hugging a blue-looking and lifeless Jackie covered in snow. The rest of the survivors could only watch in shock as Shauna wailed and lamented the death of her best friend.
With this, it's safe to say that Jackie will not be a part of 'Yellowjackets' Season 2. Unless there are flashbacks that show the character, there's no reason that Jackie can actually return. However, this is a psychological horror-thriller that's brought people back from the dead. So, as far-fetched, as it may seem, is there a glimmer of hope that she's alive?
