Spoilers for 'Wynonna Earp' Season 4 Episode 5 - 'Holy War Part 1'

The previous episode of 'Wynonna Earp' showed us that the big bad of the Syfy show may be the Clantons, led by Carol Clanton (Paula Boudreau). In this week's episode, it looks like Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell) made a deal with the metaphorical devil when she grew desperate waiting for the return of Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) when the latter was trapped in the Garden of Eden along with Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon). Nicole had helped Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano) get there, but she could not go herself.

By the time Wynonna, Waverly, and Doc returned to Purgatory, one and a half years had passed. We had seen that Nicole had changed quite a bit during that absence -- besides the longer hair. There were times she would zone out and even seemed to feel guilty. We got worried when we saw Nicole aim at Wynonna, Waverly, Doc, and Jeremy Chetri (Varun Saranga) with a running electric drill. Wynonna snapped her out of it, but it was certain that whatever interaction Nicole had with Carol in the previous episode.

Soon, Nicole starts experiencing pain, doubling over when she throws up as she clutches her stomach. When Waverly and Jeremy try to ask her what happens, she throws up frogs. It seems that whenever she tries to tell them what happened, she throws up frogs. When she tries to write the names of those who cursed her she ends up drawing either sperm or tadpole -- depending on whether you agree with Waverly or Jeremy.

If fans recall, when Wynonna and the others came out of the Garden through a door, there was the Clanton's symbol drawn on it -- the same symbol that was on the rocks deposited in Wynonna's pocket in the last episode. It would seem that Carol did indeed provide a way out. We can only guess what she must have asked of Nicole in exchange -- to kill Wynonna so that whatever curse is on the Clantons, the family that fought the Earps and Doc Holliday at OK Corral -- is broken once the last Earp is dead. However, it is quite possible that the Clantons don't know that Wynonna's and Doc's daughter, Alice Earp is still alive, having been given to Wynonna's mother outside the Ghost River Triangle for safety at the end of the second season.

Fans, besides, being grossed out, were interested in finding out what really happened. One fan tweeted, "FROGS?????? WHAT #WynonnaEarp #BravoBarrell." Another remarked, "B***h is chundering frogs, I’m not ok with this turn of events #WynonnaEarp." A fan quipped, "Either Nicole has done something really bad, or she's been breathing the air in Cal/Colorado recently. #WynonnaEarp #BravoBarrell." Another tweeted, "FROGS?!!! This show is really something. And I LOVE IT! #WynonnaEarp #Earpers."

Of course, some fans recalled 'Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets', when Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) started spitting out slugs when he tried to curse Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) for calling Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) a "mudblood." A fan joked, "Did Ron Weasley cursed Nicole?"

'Wynonna Earp' airs on Syfy on Sunday nights at 10/9c.
