Riley Green to finally debut in 'Marshals' and here's when you can expect him to appear alongside Kayce
After Ashley Cooke's appearance in the second episode of 'Marshals,' which aired on March 8 on CBS, the neo-Western series is set to add another country singer to its cast. Riley Green will make his acting debut in the show as Garrett, a troubled Navy SEAL who shares a past with the show's lead character, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). The show's official Instagram account announced the news on February 20, with the caption, "It’s official— Riley Green is making his acting debut on #MarshalsCBS! Can’t wait for you to meet Garrett!" But two episodes in, Green has yet to make an appearance on the CBS drama series. So, when can fans expect to see their favorite country singer? The wait won't be too long, as a CBS representative told Country Living on March 8 that Riley will make his television debut in “mid-April,” meaning that the singer will be seen in action in the second half of the series.
Spencer Hudnut is the creator and showrunner of 'Marshals,' which follows Kayce's journey as he joins the US Marshals to investigate crimes in Montana after his wife Monica's death. On March 3, the 'Worst Way' singer told People that Grimes encouraged him to add acting to his growing career. "It was through Luke Grimes, who's become a real good buddy of mine. He's starting his music career and was starting to come to Nashville and doing some co-writing and stuff. I was trying to help him out in that world a little bit with some people that I knew. He was like, 'Man, you should try acting, you know? I think you'd be good at it.' I was already kind of putting thought into that," he said. In the show, Green will play a former Navy SEAL who was part of several teams with Kayce. The title will see him being troubled and struggling to deal with his past.
Speaking about working with an acting coach, Green added that playing Garrett didn't come easily to him as he struggled to tap into his character's emotional turmoil. "He's been through a lot and had a lot of problems and that's not the easiest thing to just jump into. This guy was somebody that really had a lot of deep emotional problems from things that had happened to him in the past. And when you haven't lived those, you really kind of just rely on feedback from other people in the room," he said. Overall, the singer had a positive acting experience on the set of 'Marshals,' saying that everyone was welcoming on his first day of shooting the CBS series. Until Green appears on 'Marshals,' tune in to follow Kayce's adventures on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS or stream the episodes the next day on Paramount+.
