While much of the plot of Patty Jenkins' 'Wonder Woman' is still under wraps, new photos of the Gal Gadot starrer reveal the usage of the Chaos Crystal, better known as the Chaos Shard. The artifact made a debut in Batman/Superman #3, by Greg Pak, Jae Lee and Yilidiray Cinar, and boasts of rich comic history.

The function though is pretty much like a fairytale as it grants wishes to those who get a chance to hold it. It was explained that it comes from an extra-dimensional reality called the Sphere of Gods.

Pedro Pascal's 'Maxwell' Lord is shown to be in possession of the shard and could be the key to solving many questions the movie poses ahead of its release. Starting off with Kristen Wiig's transformation to Cheetah and the return of Chris Pine's Steve Trevor.  It also remains to be seen if the movie explains the shard's presence on earth. Justice League had another artifact in the form of Mother Boxes that played a pivotal role in the film. There are theories doing the rounds whether the shard would connect the Justice League at some point.

Lord was initially shown as a character without any superpowers, but he was heavily under the influence of Kil%ore, an AI. Post the 'Invasion! Crossover' epic in 1989, it was revealed to readers the villain had developed mind control as one of his abilities. While much of his role in the upcoming sequel is under wraps, his villainy and its impact on Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) will be surely explored.

While she may have her clashes with Barbara Ann Minerva aka Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), what if it was Lord orchestrating the whole encounter? It doesn't come as a surprise considering the master manipulator that he is in the comics.

Helmed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal, and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives hits theaters on June 5.
