The forthcoming studio album will be Seung-yoon’s first comeback as a solo artist in eight years. Before joining the South Korean boy band, Winner, he debuted with the song ‘It Rains,’ which ranked number one on all music streaming platforms in South Korea, including Mnet and Melon.

That being said, this is not the first time when Kang Seung Yoon’s solo album is promised to his millions of fans. Earlier in 2020, YG Entertainment released a list of promised comebacks of their artists such as Song Min Ho, Blackpink and Treasure. All the major k-pop artists from the noted agency released their songs or albums but not Seung-yoon. Some pointed out back then that YG Entertainment has been promising to release Seung-yoon’s solo album since 2013. However, due to several reasons, the most-awaited album release was delayed. In mid-2020, YG Entertainment confirmed that Seung-yoon plans to release his solo album by the fall. After waiting for an entire year, fans have taken to social media handles to express their disappointment.

Seung-yoon has also made a promising career as a silver screen star after starring as the male lead in the drama ‘We Broke Up,’ alongside his labelmate Sandara Park. He later starred in the web drama ‘Love for a Thousand More’ alongside Kim Jin-woo. Seung-yoon later starred in tvN’s black-comedy series, ‘Prison Playbook,’ for which he also released a soundtrack titled ‘Door.’

Seung-yoon has also participated in the MBC singing competition, ‘King of Mask Singer,’ where he earned the title of ‘122nd Mask King’ after defeating South Korean singer, So Chan-whee.

Although the exact release time or date of Seung-yoon’s first album is not revealed, YG Entertainment stated via Soompi that “Kang Seung Yoon will be releasing his first solo full album in March.”

Right after YG Entertainment confirmed that Seung-yoon is finally coming with a whole new album, fans of Winner and the K-pop artist took to Twitter to share their excitement.
