Oregon City, Oregon: 'Longlegs' released in theatres on July 12, 2024. The movie is a jaw-dropping psychological thriller that has supernatural elements making it an outstandingly spooky serial killer story.

Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage's exceptional performances and OZ Perkins's masterful direction left the audiences spellbound and wanting more. The film's end is an ambiguous one and leaves ample opportunity for a sequel.

The movie ends with the serial killer Longlegs (Nicolas Cage) dead, and  Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) killing her mother Ruth Harker (Alicia Witt) who was an accomplice to Longlegs. However, when Lee goes to shoot the satanic doll, her magazine runs out leaving traces of demonic possession still out there.

People who have seen the film have been wondering if a sequel of the film is in the works. Here's what we know about a potential sequel.

Unfortunately, for the fans of the film, there is no official announcement so far from the makers about the sequel of the film. However, the possibility of a sequel cannot completely be ruled out.

The film has been received positively by critics and audiences alike and has performed surprisingly well at the box office too with the audiences loving it for its combination of horror and thriller genres.

The movie ends with a flashback sequence of a demonic Happy Birthday rendition by Nicholas Cage's character and the life-sized doll that looks like Ruby Carter (Ava Kelders) is still pretty much there to cause destruction.

What could be the plot of 'Longlegs' Part 2?

'Longlegs' sequel could provide more clarity about the doll and why Lee could not shoot it down. Was it just a coincidence that the gun was empty or was it a satanic intervention? We might find out in the sequel.

It will also explain whether Lee is finally free from the possession of evil or whether darkness remains in her. Longlegs calls her darkness and if the seeds of his possession still remain in Lee, she could be in for an interesting future as an FBI Agent. She might be required on more such supernatural cases or with her psychic intuitions or if she decides to go down on a dark path, she could be very hard to contain.

Finally, the doll that is still alive has Ruby in her possession. A possessed Ruby and the doll could be a problem for Oregon going forward. The first part ends with Longlegs saying 'Hail Satan', and Satan could find many different ways through Ruby or Lee in the sequel.
