Meghan Markle may return to acting in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit
Meghan Markle may be heading back to the screen, and Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ could be where it happens. The former ‘Suits’ star is reportedly in talks to join the Netflix crime series for a potential third season. The conversations remain hypothetical, as Netflix has yet to renew ‘The Gentlemen’ for Season 3, and no role has been identified for Markle.
Still, the possibility makes sense on several levels. ‘The Gentlemen’ is filmed in the UK, while Markle and Prince Harry recently announced plans to spend an extended period there after living in California for the past six years. A high-profile role for Markle could also bring significant attention to the series and potentially attract new viewers to Netflix.
Markle is best known to television audiences for playing Rachel Zane in ‘Suits.’ She stepped away from acting in 2018, making a return to a scripted television role a notable development. Since relocating to the US, her work has largely focused on projects created under her and Prince Harry’s Netflix deal, including ‘Harry & Meghan’ and ‘With Love, Meghan.’ She has also made a guest appearance on ‘MasterChef Australia’ and is set to appear in the Amazon MGM Studios film 'Close Personal Friends.'
A role in ‘The Gentlemen’ would mark a different kind of project altogether. The series follows Eddie and Susie as they navigate Bobby’s dangerous criminal empire. The upcoming Season 2 finds the pair facing growing pressure as they try to expand their operation while Bobby’s decisions threaten to put everything at risk.
Theo James and Kaya Scodelario lead the series alongside a large ensemble cast. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on September 3, but Netflix has not yet announced whether the story will continue beyond that.
For now, Markle’s involvement remains only a possibility. But if ‘The Gentlemen’ moves ahead with a third season and the discussions result in a deal, it could mark her most significant acting role in years and an unexpected return to scripted television.
