After season 34 backlash, Mark Ballas reveals his future with 'DWTS': 'I have learned...'
Mark Ballas recently grabbed headlines due to his latest stint on 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 34. For the unversed, Ballas was partnered up with 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' star Whitney Leavitt for the season, and they were eliminated in the seventh week. However, from the start of the season, the duo faced immense online backlash, as per Parade Magazine. Now, in a recent episode of the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, Ballas candidly spoke about the criticism and revealed whether he plans to be a part of the ABC dance show's next season or not.
At one point, podcast host Alex Cooper asked Ballas if he had any plans to return for 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 35. Cooper also slammed online trolls by saying, "You guys ruined it. We're never going to get 'em back." Ballas, too, didn't give a direct answer to Cooper's question, but left the door open for his comeback. The pro dancer said, "I love the show. I love creating on the show. Even after the season with Charlie, they had become guests as a judge one day, and then I got to dance with Derek."
Later in the interview, Ballas mentioned that he just finished a season and he would like to take his own sweet time to decide what's next. He noted that he's not completely opposed to the idea of returning to 'Dancing With The Stars'. "The season before, I was like still working through that injury stuff because there's a difference between doing like a spotlight performance and then doing a full season. Like, you have to be right for that because injuries will creep up on you, but I wouldn't say that I'm like you know (completely against it). Of course, this one's just finished, so we need a little sleep. Give me a breather. I have learned not to say it right then, but I'll have a chat with Rob," Ballas said.
Elsewhere in the episode, Ballas also revealed one of the many 'relentless' comments he received during his time on the show. As per Deadline, one of he comments directed at Ballas read, "Are you that cheap of a c*** to rot and do this? Damn. You're special. You're completely worthless, and I hope you f****** burn in hell one day." Talking about his reaction to such comments, Ballas said, "I think also the thing is it's like, I think there's a narrative of like well, you wanted to be in the entertainment industry, you signed up for this…I signed up to dance, to choreograph, to make music, to be on stage, to entertain people, to bring happiness, to bring joy."
