Anthony Starr's Homelander is expected to die in 'The Boys' Season 5. With the Prime Video show gearing up for a final run, the last chapter will surely see a slew of supes meet their maker. If any character has to die in the final season, it has to be Starr's villain, as the entire series has been building toward his downfall. The speculation comes in the wake of showrunner Eric Kripke's grim take on the death toll in the fifth season.

"You can let people have the emotional confrontations that they’ll never recover from," he said, while speaking to SFX Magazine, via GamesRadar+. He added, "We wanted to take full advantage of that, having these mind-blowing moments. It’s a battle, and there are going to be casualties. It would be unrealistic not to. Things cost things, you can’t just get away with this!’ So yes, I wouldn’t get too attached to any single character." Safe to say, no one appears to be in the safe zone.

Additionally, taking a cue from the comics storyline, Season 5's trailer ends with Homelander at a desk in the Oval Office. In Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comics, the room is a reference to his fate. That said, the TV series has taken creative liberties, and while there are Easter eggs around, that may be where he will be killed. Though the manner of his death and who kills him may change, the TV show appears to stick to the original location. Those familiar with his death in the comics will know that Black Noir kills Homelander in the Oval Office after the supe takes out the President. But with Butcher (Karl Urban) and the antagonist yet to trade blows in one explosive confrontation, there is a chance the Noir storyline will be altered.

Then comes the possibility that he dies at the hands of Ryan (Cameron Crovetti). His relationship with Homelander has always been a strained one, making him the ideal candidate to kill his own father. Homelander is responsible for the death of his mother, and after Season 4's brutal ending, it is established that Ryan may be the only killing machine capable of defeating Homelander. Unless the storyline leans toward the triumph of evil, Homelander is most likely to meet his end. However, viewers will have to wait for 'The Boys' Season 5 to release on April 8 on Prime Video to know more.
