Did 'A Knight of Seven Kingdoms' Episode 4 predict Dunk and Egg's tragic death in the future?

'A Knight of Seven Kingdoms' dropped a string of major twists in Episode 4. In addition, it may also quietly hint at the grim future of Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). It starts with the duo walking around the Ashford market, when they encounter a fortune teller (played by Jenna Boyd).

When she offers to tell their fortune, Dunk gets a positive take. "You shall know great success and be richer than a Lannister," she says, leaving the hedge knight in stitches. He asks her to do Egg's next, only for a disturbing prophecy. "You shall be king… And die in fire, and worms shall feed upon your ashes. And all who know you shall rejoice in your dying." The prediction leaves Egg shattered, but the twists follow soon after he is revealed to be Aegon Targaryen.

Diving deeper, a feature from Comicbook Club sheds light on The Tragedy at Summerhall, a disastrous event that kills Dunk and Egg in the future. Per the article, Dunk sees a rise in his knight journey, becoming the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Aegon goes on to become the king of the Seven Kingdoms, with Dunk as his faithful knight. But the fire at Summerhall sees both the characters die, as noted in George R.R. Martin’s 'The World of Ice & Fire'.

The feature added that Aegon was obsessed with bringing back the dragons. He is later invited to Summerhall to celebrate the birth of his great-grandchild, but dies with Dunk when a mysterious fire burns the place down. It is later speculated that he was trying to hatch dragon eggs. The prophecy is in line with what was revealed in the novels, making it a rather dark piece of news for the duo. The next episode is officially set to premiere on Sunday, February 15, at 10 p.m. ET, airing simultaneously on HBO and HBO Max, per Winter Is Coming.
