Ariana Grande's 'Wicked: For Good' Golden Globe snub leaves fans fuming
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's 'Wicked: For Good' was expected to rake in some silverware at the 2026 Golden Globes. However, the musical was one of the major snubs, leaving fans fuming. The feature missed out on a nomination for best musical or comedy film, losing out to Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, One Battle After Another, Nouvelle Vague, and Blue Moon.
The snub saw fans express their disappointment on social media. "This is insane," one of the fans wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"Half the nominees in the category aren't even musicals or comedies; both Wicked and Kpop Demon Hunters deserved to be in the category far more than some of these," another tweet read.

The shockwaves continued. "GG SNUB!!! NO “WICKED FOR GOOD” FOR BEST MUSICAL????" one of the fans said.
It's worth noting that the sequel landed five other nominations — one short of 'Wicked's six last year. On her part, Grande was asked about her evolution as an actor and how 'For Good' was a stepping stone. Per Deadline, "It’s so special to have the work be acknowledged in this way," she said. "This moment, this morning, is such a special celebration and such a beautiful thing I didn’t expect. You don’t expect a second nomination for the same role. This was very blindsiding and thrilling. I am so humbled and honored."
"Also, I have to add that when I was a little girl growing up in Boca [Raton, Florida], none of this was ever on my vision board," she added. "I never had an idea that I’d be part of these big phenomena or that I would be who I am today. It means so much to be part of this conversation with so many extraordinary performances and women I admire. This is not something you can prepare your mind for, but just seeing this celebrated amongst wonderful films is truly a gift."
The synopsis for 'Wicked: For Good' reads, "Now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba lives in exile in the Ozian forest, while Glinda resides at the palace in Emerald City, reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, she'll need to reunite with Glinda to transform herself, and all of Oz, for good."
The 2026 Golden Globes ceremony will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET.
