What happened to Mary Jayne? 'MasterChef: Legends' contestant drops out of show mid-season
Fifteen home cooks fought tooth and nail to earn the coveted white apron on 'MasterChef: Legends'. The ongoing Season 11 is a lot more competitive and challenging compared to earlier seasons as only fifteen aprons were handed out as opposed to twenty aprons that were handed out to the home cooks in the previous season. One of the contestants who managed to land the apron was Mary Jayne.
Jayne, 59, left the judges- Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez, Joe Bastianich, and guest judge Paula Deen scrambling for the last bite of the delicious pie that she had baked in the auditions round. Gordon loved it so much that he picked up the plate and began licking it clean, proving that Jayne was indeed a fantastic cook. After watching her impressive performance everybody began rooting for Mary Jayne to go very far ahead in the competition.

What happened to Mary Jayne?
On Episode 6 of 'MasterChef' Gordon shocked everybody when he announced that our favorite southern belle aka Mary Jayne wouldn't be competing on the culinary competition anymore. He revealed that she fell sick due to which she had to pull out from 'MasterChef', but he also quickly added that the good news was Jayne would make a recovery and be fine soon. He didn't reveal any further details of the nature of her illness.
Fans were disappointed to hear the news. A fan tweeted, "I do worry about Mary Jayne... I'm glad they said she's okay, but still, to have to leave in the middle of the season... it must've been at least moderately serious. :/ #MasterChef." Another fan wrote, "What happened to Mary Jane? I hate to hear she’s not returning #MasterChef." "No!!! So bummed about Mary Jayne. I adored her! She's so precious. Hate her journey ended this soon, and wish her good health. #MasterChef," commented a dejected fan. Another fan expressed, "Oh. That's real sad that Mary Jayne fell ill and was no longer to compete. #Masterchef."

None of Jayne's social media handles revealed anything about her mysterious illness either. In one of her Instagram posts, Jayne revealed that she fought cancer twice. She shared, "As a two time cancer survivor myself I feel grateful to be here. Having a friend right now that is battling stage 4 cancer it becomes a constant reminder of where we all are. One step away one phone call away. If you know somebody that has survived cancer or is fighting it show them all the love and support you can especially if they're still here. At the end of the day you don't know what they're battling.❤"
Hopefully, Jayne feels better soon and is back to her chirpy self. The 59-year-old Texas native's love for cooking developed after watching her mother cook in the kitchen. She lost her mother at the age of 19, but has fond memories of spending time with her in the kitchen.
'MasterChef: Legends' Season 11 airs every Wednesday at 8/7c on FOX.
