Why Robert Pattinson's Batman will follow Christian Bale's lead and not appear in DCEU's 'The Flash'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The beloved speedster is all set to take its fans on a rollercoaster ride with the upcoming DCEU ‘The Flash’ to release on June 16. The movie stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash and marks the character’s solo adventure on the big screen. The movie features the concept of the multiverse, allowing for exciting crossovers and interactions with other DC characters.
‘The Flash’ is directed by Andy Muschietti who promises to deliver thrilling action sequences, compelling storytelling, and a fresh take on the iconic speedster. The movie is set to reprise several DC characters, including, Michael Keaton’s Batman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Supergirl, General Zod, and Faora-Ul. In the upcoming ‘The Flash’ movie, Keaton's Batman makes a highly anticipated return to the big screen. Michael Keaton reprises his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne, confirming his identity as the Caped Crusader. The film explores a multiverse storyline where two versions of Barry Allen, played by Ezra Miller, team up with Keaton's Batman and Affleck’s Batman to navigate the altered reality caused by their worlds colliding. With the inclusion of Keaton's iconic Batcave and Batmobile, fans can expect a nostalgic trip down memory lane as they witness the beloved classic Batman in action once again after a long absence from the cinematic world.
The return of Keaton's Batman in the upcoming Flash movie is indeed exciting, but it remains speculative as to whether Pattinson's Batman will be replaced. The director of 'The Batman' has clarified that the movie is a standalone story and not part of DC's larger universe. Robert Pattinson portrays a younger Bruce Wayne, who is already establishing his legacy in Gotham City. However, Keaton's reprisal of Batman marks his return as the Dark Knight after a hiatus of 31 years.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman has not been replaced by Michael Keaton’s Batman
Robert Pattinson’s Batman is not being replaced by Keaton’s Caped Crusader. Instead, ‘The Batman’ co-exists in its own separate universe. The world of ‘The Flash’ and ‘The Batman’ doesn’t coincide, hence Pattinson’s absence in the upcoming movie. Moreover, Keaton’s Batman return is likely the result of Barry Allen racing through the multiverse which further explains Ben Affleck’s Batman in the movie. The trailer confirms that Barry will be interacting with both versions of Batman in different timelines.
Why is Robert Pattinson not appearing in ‘The Flash’?
Pattinson’s Batman could have made a cameo in ‘The Flash’ because of Barry’s power of Speed Force to explore the multiverse. However, DCEU decided to keep things separate from ‘The Batman’ and its upcoming sequel from the interconnected DCEU multiverse. Of course, it’d have been interesting if ‘The Flash’ could have thrown a third Batman. But perhaps it's for the best to leave the Matt Reeves Batman trilogy starring Pattinson alone. This way the focus can be kept more on Gotham rather than worrying about other superheroes' crisis that exist in the multiverse.
‘The Flash’ is set to release on June 16, 2023.
