If Hollywood has TMZ, the South Korean entertainment industry has Dispatch. The Korean media outlet is always on the top of every new piece of information, whether it is an event, release, rumor or even controversy. They also investigate controversies on their own from acquiring Seungri’s text messages that hint that he enabled prostitution to helping FreeZia aka Song Jia redeem herself from her fake brand controversy. However, they have been extremely silent on Le Sserafim Kim Garam’s bullying controversy.

Fans pointed out that even when there was a systematic attack against K-pop idols in early 2021 as trolls circulated fake rumors that they were bullies, Dispatch was reporting it diligently. However, in Kim Garam’s case which is now getting extremely serious to the point that even local news channels are covering it, Dispatch has not released a single statement. With the Korean outlet’s ability to make or break a case in several past controversies, many were actually waiting for their stance on the Le Sserafim member’s bullying scandal. However, they have had no qualms in bringing down the girl group for their music show win.

Dispatch reports on Le Sserafim’s alleged rigged win

In the past week, Dispatch has made not one but two reports as they investigated the alleged rigged music show win of KBS’ ‘Music Bank’. The two nominees were Korean trot sensation Lim Young-woong who achieved 1 million sales in over 24 hours for his debut album and Le Sserafim. While Young-woong had the highest score in almost every criterion, he got 0 for broadcast. Le Sserafim won solely because they had the highest broadcast points. Dispatch dug in and reported that there was foul play as Lim Young-woong should have gotten broadcast points since his song had indeed been broadcast on KBS’ radio shows.

Fans are now confused why Dispatch is investigating a rigged music show win when Kim Garam’s case is getting extremely serious as it has been taken to court and accusations of physical assault are cropping up. Since netizens are already wondering if Dispatch and HYBE have some sort of partnership, fans are speculating that they reported the rigged win to stop exactly these types of rumors.

One fan joked, “Dispatch did this bcs monthly invoice from hybe hasnt come through.” Another wondered if it was just a matter of time before Dispatch reports on Garam, “Omfg dispatch turning on hybe??????” One asked, “Hybe that desperate?” Another said, “What the hell happened at HYBE, honestly? Dollar signs in their eyes making it hard to see the road ahead?” One fan pointed out, “@dispatch_kst atleast write articles to defend her ? Or don't wana get daddy hybe mad ? If it was idol from other company they would have interviewed the whole school and shared there thoughts and how it effects gp and all the bullshit. Not a single article about garam issues.” 

Another felt that HYBE was trying to get Dispatch to keep the focus on the rigged win, “Just realised................ where's dispatch with the whole garam bullying scandal? hybe really serious about defending that fad to have dispatch keep quiet about this.” One fan commented, “Well HYBE is pulling the strings, have you seen any recent news from Allkpop? Soompi? Dispatch? When Soojin, Lucas, Seo Ji, Irene even Karina 3 and 4 news daily even month later, but this days only about V, Garam doesnt exist for them, So yeah even if shes not guilty HYBE is…”
